The Portical Platform
Portical helps businesses engage their customers through a mix of original, curated, licensed, and automated content. It provides a set of tools that enables marketers and publishers to leverage not only new content on topics that are relevant to their target audiences, but to focus on trending topics that are likely to be of the greatest interest to them and to publish to websites, email newsletters, social, and mobile channels.
Fresh Daily Content
The Portical platform will read read RSS feeds that have been selected for the target vertical. The feeds are read and parsed at a pre-defined interval. All the the feeds are checked and augmented to create a consistent set of feeds. The selected feeds are stored within the internal database.
Customize Your Content Flow
The newsfeed items are tagged based on a set of profiles that are organized into forums. When the keywords for the profile match the text of the newsfeed, the item is tagged with the keywords and is associated with the profile.
This smart tagging capability allows for the content flow to be customized quickly and efficiently. Once a profile is added or is modified, the tagging process is done automatically for all future newsfeeds.
Each feed is scored and augumented
Each feed is scored as part of the tagging process. This results in a cumulative score for each newsfeed (i.e., the range is between 0 and 100).
Each feed is augmented with additional information based on analysis of the content of the feed.
Profile weights can be adjusted to create a recommendation engine
Registered users can adjust the default scoring points associated with each profile. Specific subjects can be excluded from the news stream and the point assignment for each profile can be adjusted.
This allows each registered user to create a customized news stream that reflects their personal interests. The administrator can also adjust the default values for the common baseline news stream.
